Peshtigo Gals 5th At 57th Annual Smiley Run
With freshman Mariah McDonough leading the way, the Peshtigo Bulldog girls cross-country team came up with a 5th place finish in Division 2 at the 57th annual Smiley Invite Saturday. Peshtigo tallied a score of 135 and saw 5 runners finish in the top 36.
McDonough crossed the finish line with a 17th place clocking of 17:11, Anna Madsen 24th 17:31, Carlee Mylener 25th 17:33, Rebekah Sokol 17:50 and Samantha Rauch 36th 17:56.
Little Chute won the meet with a score of 70 followed by Kiel 84 and Tomahawk 108.
Top times were posted by senior Natalie Miller of Three Lakes in 15:45 while sophomore Alissa Niggemann of Amherst was second at 15:57.
In the boys run, Peshtigo senior Aaron Bhatoya checked in with a 9th place time of 17:13, Tyler Nault 13th 17:17, Eddie Jornlin 40th 18:47 and Bryce Trimberger 54th 19:20.
Dakota Kauffman of Boscobel registered a winning time of 15:57 with Charlie Stahl and Sam Kuhlman, both of Shorewood, finishing second and third at 15:58 and 16:25.
Coleman 9th At BayPort Invite
The Coleman boys cross-country team finished last at the 9-team Bay Port Pirate Invitational Thursday. Appleton North was first at 42 followed by BayPort 71, Shawano 96, Two Rivers 97, DePere 124, Sheboygan South 145, Lourdes Academy 194, West DePere 209 and Coleman 250.
Jensyn Schaal topped the Cougars with a 21st place time of 18:39, Jake Schell was 61st 21:56, Brandon Champagne 62nd 21:57, Jordan Blanchard 63rd 21:58 and Brandon Lake 68th 26:11.
Marinettes top times were turned in by Erik Breuer 38th 19:50 and Jacob Button 54th 21:02.
Tanner Daines of Appleton North was first across the finish line at 16:48.
In the girls race, Two Rivers was first at 45, Appleton North 57, Lourdes 76, BayPort 78, DePere 101, Shawano 185, West DePere 213, Marinette 239, Sheboygan South 244 and Coleman 258.
Courtney Hoffman claimed 36th in 17:48, Katelyn Thill 40th 18:18, Jayden Schriener 52nd 19:41, Kathy Smith 54th 19:51 and Rachel England 57th 20:46 for Marinette.
Leading Coleman across the finish line was Chastyn Sadowski 33rd 17:46, Kim Carlson 44th 18:42, Ashly Rymer 56th 20:32, Hope Process 62nd 21:23 and Malory Olcott 63rd 21:25.
Nora Keller of Lourdes paced the field with a 15:21 clocking.
Area Runners Struggle At Stephenson Invite
Totaling a score of 217, the Coleman girls finished 9th out of 10 teams at the Stephenson Invitational Saturday. Escanaba won the girls meet with 42 points, followed by Hancock 67, Gladstone 87 and Menominee 108.
Kameron Burmeister paced the Maroons with a first place time of 19:24 while Lilly Johnson was 18th at 22:37.
Top runners for Coleman were Kim Carlson 15th 22:19 and Ashley Rymer 48th 24:31.
In the boys run, Escanaba was first at 46, Menominee 6th with 195 points, Lena-STAA 9th 213 and Coleman 11th 239.
Davey Luplow paced Menominee with a 7th place clocking of 17:37 and Gunther DeDamos was 11th at 18:03.
Evan Beranek topped Lena-STAA with a 19th place time of 18:26 and Mike Schmidt 43rd at 20:20.
Colemans best effort was from Jensyn Schaal in 15h place at 18:18.
