Evelyn Marie Kazmierski
Evelyn "Evie" Marie Kazmierski, 88, passed away on Monday, Sept. 30 at Crandon Nursing Home after a short illness.
Born Evelyn Marie Stearns, daughter of the late Frank and Natalie (Tobert) Stearns of Racine on April 25, 1925, she married Sigmond Vilagi and they had three children. They later parted and she then married Victor Kazmierski of Cudahy in 1979 and they took up residences in Racine, Crivitz, Tuscon, Ariz. and Antigo. He preceded her in death.
She served as a Deputy Clerk for Racine County, retiring in 1980 and was a long-time member of the Crivitz American Legion Auxiliary Post 413.
She is survived by three children, Judith (John) Nehmer and Jill (Leo) Zagar, both of Pickerel and Jeff (Donna) Vilagi of Kings Mountain, NC.; three grandsons and their wives; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Doris Thomas of Racine; a brother and sister-in-law Richard and Sue Stearns of Racine; nieces; nephews; great nieces; great nephews and other relatives. She also had a loving family at Rosalia Gardens and Pine Meadow and special friend, Dottie Woody.
She was preceded in death by her husband Victor; parents; mother-in-law, Teresa Vilagi; brother and sister-in-law, Frank "Fritz" and Lu Stearns of Waukesha and a brother-in-law, Tom Thomas of Racine.
Visitation will be held at noon until time of services at 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 4 at Faith Lutheran Church of Christ, 628 Clermont Street, Antigo. Rev. Dr. Wes A. Jedras will officiate. A dinner will follow at the Edison Club, 623 Edison Street, Antigo. A private burial will take place at Pearson Cemetery. The Weber-Hill Funeral Home in Crandon is serving the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Crivitz American Legion Auxiliary Post 413, PO Box 324, Crivitz, WI 54114; Faith United Church of Christ, Antigo or Praise Chapel Church of Crandon.
