THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Glenn William Olsen
Glenn "Yorky" William Olsen, 63, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, Sept. 27 surrounded by his family.
Born Nov. 18, 1949, to William and Marcy Olsen in Marinette, he was a joyful person who had an infectious laugh and laughed often.
He loved his dogs, Harley and Maggie, the Packers, felt deeply about music, cried when John Lennon died and and was an avid listener to the poetry of Bob Dylan. He enjoyed golf, walking his dogs, and living in Pine Beach. After retiring five years ago, he moved to California. A member of several bands including Mill Pond Ferry and Yorky Yorkinson and the New Yorkers, he attended Woodstock and was a hippie before any knew what hippies were. Once hippies became part of popular culture, he no longer wished to be one. Mostly, he lived deeply, was gentle to those he loved and was a friend like no other. He became an accomplished guitarist and was recently asked to perform at a well-known San Diego rock and roll venue.
He is survived by his parents; a daughter, Kris (Walter); three sisters, Susan, Mary and Kris; four brothers, Lee, Bill, Tim and Tom; six grandchildren and great friends in Boulder Creek, Ca., Dana and Susan Barth.
