Irene B. (Belongie) Rye
Irene B. Rye (Belongie), age 91, of the Luther Home, Marinette, passed away on Tuesday, Oct, 22 at Bay Area Medical Center.
The daughter of Fred and Helen Belongie, she was born April 8, 1922 in Grover where she spent her early years. She later moved to Marinette (Menekaunee), where she lived all her life. She graduated from Marinette High School and married Carl A. Rye on June 26, 1943. After his retirement, they moved to Pike River area near Amberg in 1982.
She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, spending time at the cabin and her grandchildren. She was a member of the Salvation Army Home League and the UMW of First United Methodist Church.
She is survived by three children, William (Geraldine), Menominee, Robert (Becky), Idaho and Sue (Bill) Lund, Marinette; 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl; a brother, Glen Belongie; two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law.
Friends called at Hansen-Onion-Martell Funeral Home in Marinette from noon until time of funeral services at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 27 with Chaplain Darrel Diers officiating. Burial was in Forest Home Cemetery.
