Emily L. Voigt, 23, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., passed away unexpectedly on Thursday morning, Oct. 31 due to apparent natural causes.
Born March 26, 1990 to Glen and Robin (Walters) Voigt, she lived in the Niceville area her entire life and attended Bluewater Elementary, Ruckel Middle School, and Niceville High School.
At the time of her death, she was a first grade teacher at Plew Elementary and previously taught at Elliot Point Elementary. A wonderful daughter and loving sister, she will be deeply missed by those who knew her. She was sincere, compassionate, caring, and hardworking person and inspired everyone to be the best they can be. She loved sports and her favorite team was the Florida Gators. She also spent many years swimming and most recently held a coaching position for the ECOAST Aquatics Swim team.
Her legacy will live on through her students and all of the lives she touched. She made a significant impact on her little firsties and the Niceville community as a whole.
She is survived by her parents, Glenn and Robin (Walters) Voigt; three siblings, Rachael, Gerrod, and Addie; paternal grandmother, Wanda Siegle, and maternal grandmother, Mildred Walters of Appleton, formerly of Marinette. In addition, she leaves behind many cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like condolences sent to the two loves of her life: Plew Elementary, 220 Pine Ave., Niceville, FL 32578; and Elliot Point Elementary, 301 Hughes St. NE, Fort Walton Beach, FL 32548.
A visitation was held on Monday, Nov. 4 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Heritage Gardens Funeral Home, Niceville, Fla. A Mass of Christian Burial took place on Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 10 a.m. at Christ Our Redeemer Catholic Church, 1028 White Point Road, Niceville, FL 32578.
