THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Barbara Barb Lucas, 75, of Fond du Lac passed away Monday, Nov. 4 at Kindred Hearts in Fond du Lac.
Born to the late Leonard and Emma Aubinger Nelson Nov. 9, 1937 in Niagara, she graduated from Niagara High School in 1955 and moved to Milwaukee to work as a secretary at Mill Printing. She was married in 1959 and the couple relocated to Fond du Lac where she began her role as a homemaker and mother.
A volunteer for St. Agnes Hospital, she delivered Mobile Meals and did volunteer work for St. Josephs Church and school.
She worked as a receptionist and secretary for the Vocation of Rehabilitation and later as a receptionist for the Fond du Lac County Veterans Office until 2003. She followed the Brewers, Badgers, Packers, and Bucks and loved her grand-dogs, Kojak, Kia, Cooper, Randie, and Jackpot.
She is survived by three children, Mark Lucas, of Fond du Lac, Steve (Amy) Lucas, of St. Peter and Jennie (Terry) Holzmann, of Fond du Lac; six grandchildren; a brother, Gerry (Shirley) Nelson, of Kaukauna; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley (Doc) Rudolff and a brother, Ronnie (Maria) Nelson.
Family received relatives and friends on Thursday, Nov. 7 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., followed by a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Church, Fond du Lac. Burial will be at the Niagara Cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to St. Marys Springs Second Century Campaign, 114 Amory Street, Fond du Lac, WI 54935. Zacherl Funeral Home & Crematory assisted the family with arrangements.
