THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Alice (Nelson) Warner, 92, passed away at Johnson Health Care Center, Windsor Manor in Carol Stream, Ill., on Thursday, Nov.14.
Born in Peshtigo on Aug. 18, 1921 to Ernest and Jennie (Christensen) Nelson, she married John Warner on July 31, 1941. The couple traveled the world while he was in the United States Army. She worked as a secretary at S.C. Johnson in Racine and at Crane Packing Company in Morton Grove, Ill. In 1999, they retired to Windsor Park Manor in Carol Stream where she volunteered in the gift shop, served on the Benevolent Care Committee and was secretary of the Resident Council for four years.
She is survived by two daughters, Pamela (Stephen) Schindel, of Aurora, Ill. and Patricia (Robert) Hendren, of Machesney Park, Ill.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and a brother, Rodger (Barbara) Nelson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John and a son, Gene.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, Nov. 24, from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, Ill. A funeral service will take place on Monday, Nov. 25 at 10 a.m. with Interment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Ill. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to Windsor Benevolent Committee or Covenant Care Hospice, 124 Windsor Park Drive, Carol Stream, Ill. 60188.
