Richard W. Wenzel
Richard Dick W. Wenzel, 70, of Peshtigo passed away Nov. 20 after a brief battle with melanoma.
Born on Aug. 18, 1943, son of the late William P. and Vivian (Anderson) Wenzel, he graduated from Peshtigo High School in 1961. On Feb. 8, 1964 he married the former Elaine Marchewka at St. Marys Church in Crivitz. He was employed at Badger Paper Mill for 38 years, retiring in 1999.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoyed traveling, crossword puzzles, trivia and spending time with friends and family at the cabin. He was also an excellent cook and his famous recipes will continue to be enjoyed at family get-togethers. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, he will be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, of 49 years, Elaine; two sons, Jerry (Dawn) Wenzel, of Wrightstown and Bill (Jamie) Wenzel, of Tomahawk; a daughter, Sheryl (Bret) Hynnek, of Peshtigo; seven grandchildren; cousins, Phil (Linda) Wenzel, of Lake Delton and Patti (Syl) Metzner, of Cecil; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard and Judy Marchewka, of Crivitz and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ben and Tillie Marchewka.
Visitation was held Monday, Nov. 25 at Berth & Rosenthal Funeral Home from 2 p.m. until time of services at 4 p.m. Rev. David Murphy officiated with burial in Riverside Cemetery in Peshtigo.
