THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Ellen Sager, 89, of Appleton, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 26 at Rennes Health Care Center in Appleton.
Born Sept. 15, 1924 in the Town of Grover, the daughter of the late Arthur L. and Frances M. (OKeefe) Warnecke, she married Karl F. Sager on Feb. 24, 1968 in Milwaukee. He preceded her in death on Dec. 27, 1981. She was employed for many years by the Goodwill Store in Milwaukee.
She loved cooking and made the best chocolate chip cookies and homemade bread which she shared with relatives and neighbors. She wrote detailed letters and worked hard, long after her retirement. In spite of many operations while a young girl, her strong character proved an inspiration to her family and she will be missed.
She is survived by a sister, Jane Schiedermayer, of Villlages, Fla.; three brothers, Frederick (Carol) Warnecke, of Berlin, Arthur Warnecke, of Highland, Ill. and Gerald (Josephine) Warnecke, of Oshkosh and 20 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister-in-law, Delores Warnecke and a brother-in-law, William Schiedermayer.
Family and friends may call on Saturday, Dec. 7 at St. Michaels Church, 1784 Chapelle Rue, DePere from 10 a.m. until Memorial Mass at 11 a.m. Interment will be early afternoon in Riverside Cemetery, Peshtigo. Berth & Rosenthal Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements
