THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Nancy Chellew, 74, of Norway, Mi., passed away Tuesday, Dec. 10 at home surrounded by her family.
Born in Norway on June 26, 1939, the daughter of the late Winston and Eleanor (Douglas) Wills, she graduated from Norway High School in 1957. She married Roy Chellew Sr. on Feb. 15, 1958 at Grace United Methodist Church in Norway and she worked as a nurses aide at the Anderson Memorial Hospital in Norway for many years.
An active member of Grace United Methodist Church, she belonged to the Womans Guild and the Church Choir. She traveled the United States, was proud to call herself a Navy man's wife and was very patriotic. She enjoyed gardening, making pasties, singing in the church choir and loved her family.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Roy; four sons, Michael (Susie) Chellew, Roy Chellew Jr., Bryan (Lisa) Chellew and Matt (Tori) Chellew, all of Norway; two daughters Debbie (Ross) Jenkins, of Felch and Patty (Jerry) Grenfell, of Powers; 19 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; five brothers, Peter (Mary Ann) Wills, of Peshtigo, Doug (Helen) Wills, of DePere, Edward Wills, of Milwaukee, Jim (Peggy) Wills, of Pequot Lake, Minn. and Tom (Jane) Wills, of Arlington, Va.; four sisters, Jackie (Ron) Menghini, of Loretto, Sally (Gary) Arcand, of Norway, Jane Gray, of Menominee and Susie (Dave) Pinter, of Lansing and many nieces and nephews.
Family greeted friends on Friday, Dec.13 from 4 p.m. until time of a Memorial Service at 5 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church in Norway with Pastor Irene White officiating. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Grace United Methodist Church Camp Michigamme.
