Carol J. Schewe, 74, of Marinette, passed away surrounded by her family on Saturday, Dec. 21 at Bay Area Medical Center.
Born Sept. 2, 1939 in Dearborn, Mi. to Paul and Pearl (Jorgenson) Lindahl, she moved with her family to Menominee where she was raised and attended school. On March 10, 1962, she married James A. Schewe and they resided in Marinette. She worked at the YMCA for several years but spent most of her life caring for her family.
She enjoyed time with family and friends, sitting outdoors, watching the birds and her flowers. She was a natural at socializing, enjoyed shopping and going out to eat. A longtime member of First Trinity Lutheran Church in Marinette, she was a former member of the Ladies Aid and a mainstay in the church kitchen where she spent many years in charge of funeral luncheons and church dinners.
She is survived by her children, Debbie (Bruce) Eichhorn, of Daggett, Daniel (Kelly) Schewe and Diana DeeDee (Bob) Thull, both of Marinette and Doreen Schewe (John), of Orfordville; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, William (Sue) Lindahl, of Menominee and James (Vail) Lindahl, of Alabama; a brother-in-law, Roy Frederickson; nieces and nephews and special friends, Margie Stuppnig and Judy Witak.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James; her parents; two sisters, Patricia Bregovits and Myrt Frederickson and a brother-in-law, Ben Bregovits.
Friends called at First Trinity Lutheran Church in Marinette from 9 a.m. until time of funeral services at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 24. Rev. Fred Stubenvoll officiated with burial in Glenwood Memorial Gardens. Hansen Onion Martell Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
