Mary E. Massoni
Mary E. (Vander Zanden) Massoni, 74, of Stephenson, Mi., passed away Monday Jan. 6 at Roubal Care and Rehab Center following a 15 month battle with cancer.
Born April 28, 1939 in Chicago, Ill. to the late Henry and Margaret (Wargo) Vander Zanden, she married Leonard Massoni in Chicago on May 10, 1963. She worked as a bank teller, a job she enjoyed, and in her younger years owned and operated a Notion and Flower Store in Toluca, Ill.
She enjoyed playing piano, going to plays and musicals and working with the Menominee Woman's Club on the International committee. Above all, taking care of her grandchildren is what brought her the most joy.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Leonard of Stephenson, Mi.; four children, Susan (Jeff) Mohr, of Jackson, Mi., Paul (Carol) Massoni, of Downers Grove, Ill., David (Jenny) Massoni, of Lindenhurst, Ill. and Mark (Bessie) Massoni, of Traverse City, Mi. and four grandchildren.
Family and friends may call at Anderson Diehm Funeral Home on Friday Jan. 10 after 4 p.m. until time of Parish Prayer Service at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Father Ronald Timock officiating on Saturday, Jan. 11 at Precious Blood Catholic Church. Burial will immediately follow in Gardens of Rest Cemetery, Escanaba. In lieu of other forms of sympathy, donations can be made in her name to the American Cancer Society.
