Penelope Ann Schmidt, 71, passed away Wednesday morning, Jan. 1.
Born Jan. 3, 1942 in Menominee, Mi., the daughter of Florence (Woods) and Charles Lynwood, after high school, she moved to Milwaukee where she continued her education and worked for Johnson Controls where she met and married Ron Schmidt in 1964. They built a home and lived in Graftonuntil a job transfer relocated them to Foster City, Ca. in 1972.
Being fashion conscious and well dressed, she took a job with Nordstrom in the fashion jewelry department where she became sales all star several times. Her husbands business assignment moved them to Tokyo, Japan where they lived from 1996 until 2001. Traveling all their life, living in the Far East allowed them to enjoy world travel for five years. While in Japan, she became active in the Japan-American Womens Group. An officer in that organization, she had an opportunity to personally meet the Empress of Japan. She was an excellent homemaker and enjoyed decorating and entertaining for all occasions.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald; sons, Christopher, Peter (Nancy) and Cory (Roeya); five grandchildren; a sister, Holly (Dan) Popkey, of DePere; a brother, Phil (Lynn) Lynwood, of Eagle, Mi. and a sister-in-law, Judith (William) Allen, of Mequon.
She will be interred on Tuesday, Jan. 7 at Skylawn Memorial Park. The family requests in lieu of flowers, a donation to ones charity in her honor.
