Vivian A. Demers
Vivian Ann (Gagne) Demers, 78, passed away at home surrounded by family after a battle with leukemia.
Born Sept. 20, 1935 in Spalding, Mi., to the late Eli and Yvette (Gatien) Gagne, she graduated from St. Mary's Academy in Prairie Du Chien. After graduation, she worked as a housekeeper for area priests and then at the former St. Joseph's Hospital in Menominee, Mi. On Nov. 26, 1955 she married Claude A. Demers at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Spalding.
She enjoyed working in the garden, traveling and spending time with her family and grandchildren. She had a great love for people and was greatly loved. The grace with which she accepted God's will and gave herself to Him serves as a source of strength for those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Claude; eight children, Joseph (Bev), of Lancaster, Pa., Mary Bourdelis and Rose Kienitz, both of Marinette, Barbara (Steve) Berton, of Wausaukee, John, of Green Bay, Theresa (Rory) Nocerini, of Menominee, Tom (Kelly), of Abrams and Catherine, of Plover; five sisters, Rose (Don) Kleikamp, Shirley Kleikamp, Carol (Ernie) Dani, Joann (Morris) Lange and Pauline (Steve) Mouford; four brothers: Eli (Joyce) Gagne, Roy (Carol) Gagne, Joseph (Louise) Gagne and Bernard (Barb) Gagne; sisters-in-law, Louise Demers and Sister Humbeline Demers; brother-in-law, Harlan Demers; special aunt and godmother, Evelyn Vorin; 20 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary and four grandchildren, Max, Jason, Kenny and Justin.
Friends called at the Cadieu-Thielen Funeral Home, Menominee on Tuesday, Jan. 21 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a vigil prayer service at 5:45 p.m. with Deacon Vince Beckley presiding. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated, for the repose of her soul at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 22 at Resurrection Church with Fr. Mark McQuesten presiding. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Menominee.
