Beatrice Janusz, 96, passed away Sunday, Jan. 12.
Born in Garden, Mi. on Aug. 16, 1917 to the late Xavier Leroux and Rose Dufort Leroux, they moved to Marinette when she was three years old and her sister was five. She attended St. Joseph 's School and graduated in 1936 from Marinette High School. In 1938 she married Andrew Janusz. She resided here until age 87 when she moved to Fort Collins, Co. to be near her daughter.
Being French Canadian, the family only spoke French when they arrived in Marinette. She began sewing for her dolls at age six and continued sewing as an occupation and hobby. She worked in a garment factory producing New York designs, later making clothes for herself and family members. She lived a quiet and happy life with care-giving, her family, and church being most important. The couple enjoyed dancing to live music and one of her favorite experiences was meeting the band-leader, Eddy Howard. She loved cats, having a cat from early childhood until she moved to a nursing home in October of 2013.
Surviving are her children, Gerald (daughter-in-law, Sue) and Annette (son-in-law, Frank DeMeyer); five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1964 and her sister in 2011. She was the last of her generation in the family.
Burial will be in Marinette beside her husband. Bohlender Funeral Chapel, Fort Collins, Co. assisted the family with arrangements.
