Clarice J. Plouff
Clarice Jean Martz Plouff, 80, of Marinette passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 22 at Luther Manor after a long battle with Alzheimer 's disease.
Born Sept. 21, 1933 to the late Arnold and Regina (Dura) Martz, she graduated from Marinette High School in 1951 as valedictorian of her class. She attended UW-Madison and returned to the area to work at Ansul Chemical Co. She married John Kirmse Plouff on Aug. 27, 1955 at St. Joseph 's Church in Marinette. A lifelong supporter of learning, she was a founding board member of the Marinette Catholic Central Foundation which supports Catholic education in the area, president of Marinette Catholic Central High School 's board in the 1970s, served 25 years on Stephenson Public Library 's board and foundation and was proud of her contribution to the funding and completion of the 1982 library addition. For over 40 years, she was a member of the PEO Sisterhood, Chapter Q, a philanthropic women 's organization whose mission is to raise funds for college scholarships.
She is survived by her husband, John; two brothers, Stanley Pat (Donna) Martz, of Anoka, Minn. and Gerald (Barbara) Martz, of Perry, Mi.; her step-mother, Ethel Martz, of Marinette; six children, Jean (Robert) Anderson, of Charlotte, N.C., Robert (Roxanna) Plouff, of Minneapolis Minn., Richard (Tiffany) Plouff, of Leawood, Ks., Anne Plouff (Tom Tierney), of Milwaukee, David (Jennifer) Plouff, of San Diego, Ca., Nancy Davel, of Brookfield and 11 grandchildren.
Visitation was held at Thielen Funeral Home on Sunday, Jan. 26 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. followed by a vigil prayer service. The Funeral Mass took place on Monday, Jan. 27 at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Parish-Our Lady of Lourdes Church on Taylor Street. A memorial fund in her name has been established for the PEO Sisterhood Chapter Q, 1609 39th Avenue, Menominee, MI 49858.
