Carol E. Panetti
Carol E. Panetti, 87, of Oconto passed away at home on Feb. 8 from breast cancer.
Born Jan. 13, 1927 to the late Grover and Jessie (Hammill) Behringer, she graduated from Oconto Falls High School in 1945 and attended Bellin College of Nursing, graduating in 1948. She married Robert Panetti on Aug. 6, 1949 at the Church of Christ in Hickory.
She was a kind, caring and compassionate nurse at Oconto Hospital for 40 years and also a loving and dedicated mother and friend to many. Her biggest joy was helping and giving to others in need. She enjoyed spending time with her children and sharing her special Rice Krispie bars. She retired in 1990 to care for her husband until he passed away on June 12, 1998. The couple enjoyed playing cards, square dancing and pontooning with friends. She was a Den mother and her husband was a Scout master. After her husband died, she enjoyed traveling to Kiawah Island, S.C. and Canada for the past 21 years. A member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Oconto Hospital Auxiliary, Oconto County Historical Society, and First American Lutheran Church, she belonged to the Sarah Circle and served many funeral luncheons and made coffee for the annual Harvest Supper until age 85.
She is survived by two sons, John (Joan) Panetti, Kaukauna and James (Helen) Panetti, DePere; five grandchildren; a brother, Roger Behringer; sisters-in-law, Diane Panetti and Lois (Woody) House; nieces; nephews and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, a daughter-in-law, Barbara Hermsen Panetti and a nephew, Daniel Behringer.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13. Visitation will continue on Friday, Feb. 14 from 10 am until time of the funeral services at 11 a.m. at the First American Lutheran Church, Oconto, with the Rev. Mary Zupansic officiating. Donations can be made to First American Lutheran Church, Oconto Hospital Auxiliary or Unity Hospice.
