Roy C. Barber, 89, passed away on Friday, March 21 at Luther Manor II Assisted Living.
Born Nov. 13, 1924 in Cadillac, Mi., to the late Franklin and Edna (Van Keuren) Barber, the youngest of seven children, he served in the United States Army from December of 1942 until November of 1945 as a radio operator. He was certified to send and receive in International Morse Code. He married the late Josephine (Raymond) Barber on Oct. 16, 1946 and they were married for 53 years before her passing.
He worked many vocations and retired from Boilermakers 107 as a Construction Welder. He enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, many of which he made at the Menominee Senior Center.
He is survived by eight children, Mike (Sue), of Bowler, Mary (Don) Hass, Lynn (Sandra), Raymond (Cathleen) and Marty, all of Marinette, Larry (Gerry), of Green Bay, Dale (Sandy), of Menominee, Clark of Manitowoc; 25 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and all six siblings.
Family and friends called at Hansen Onion Martell Funeral Home in Marinette from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 25, with Chaplain Karen Anne Hanson of Heartland Hospice officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery next to his wife, Jo.
