Marc "Slim" Edmund Laurent, 43, of Menominee, Mi., passed away Friday afternoon, March 28 at home with family by his side, after a four year battle with cancer.
Born Jan. 4, 1971, in Menominee, to Wayne Laurent and Gloria (Nast) Courtney, he graduated from Menominee High School in 1989. He married the former Colleen Blake on April 15, 2005 in Las Vegas, Nev. He worked at the former Great Lakes Pulp & Fiber in the warehouse as a forklift operator.
A member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, he enjoyed hunting, 4-wheeling, snowmobiling, playing cards, shooting pool and throwing darts.
Along with his mother, Gloria (Mike Bellisle), he is survived by his wife, Colleen and their children, Brooke Blake and Matthew Blake, all of Menominee; a sister, Becky (Brock) Bauer, of Menomonee Falls; a brother, Chad Laurent, of Menominee; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Patricia and Richard "Snookie" Blake; other in-laws; a goddaughter, Alayna Bauer; Sgt. Nicole Olson, serving in the United States Marine Corps; step-mother, Mary Jo Laurent, of Wallace, Mi.; two step-sisters, Sheri (Juston) Taylor, of Cheyenne, Wyo. and Tammy Swikert of Wausau; a step-brother, Craig (Lisa) Courtney, of Sailne, Mi. and many special aunts; uncles; nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, Marc, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Steve Courtney.
Visitation was held at Cadieu Thielen Funeral Home, Menoninee on Tuesday, April 1 from 3 p.m. until time of Vigil prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Fr. Mark McQuesten presided with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Menominee. A memorial fund has been established in his name.
