Flood Alert For Porterfield Area
The National Weather Service, Green Bay, has issued a flood warning until further notice for the Peshtigo River in the Town of Porterfield. At 5:45 a.m. Wednesday, April 9, the water was reported at 12-feet 7-inches, and nearly steady, which is seven inches above the flood stage of 12-feet. Flooding of wooded lowland and boat docks was reported.
A precautionary action when encountering a flooded area is to turn around and find an alternate route.
Porterfield Town Chairman Lynn Guseck reported some roads had water but there were no reports of any large flooding or homes being in danger. He said currently the creeks are creating the minor problems and the situation should ease when the ice breaks up.
High waters have been held down due to cooler than normal temperatures so far this spring.
