THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Sunday evening, April 13, 10 persons consisting of a woman, six men, three children and two dogs, from four fishing boats were rescued from the Menominee River near Marinette Marine by rescue crews from the fire departments of Marinette and Menominee, Mich. The call was received at 6:32 p.m. Rescue workers help several of the stranded persons safely to shore. After transferring some of the persons to safety aboard rescue boats, they were transported safely to shore. The boats were caught in rising waters and swift currents when the ice upriver broke apart and came down river. No one was injured and all were wearing life jackets. All were treated on shore by the Emergency Rescue Squad and paramedics.
