Crivitz--The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 413 April meeting was called to order by President Marian Wankowski. Chaplain Helen Franzen lead in prayer followed by the usual ceremonies. There were seven members present which made a quorum. Minutes of the March meeting were approved.
Badger Girl chairwoman Helen Franzen reported a call from the director that there was only one name submitted for Crivitz. Franzen contacted the school and was told two names were submitted. The orientation for Badger Staters is May 5 at 7 p.m. at the Crivitz Legion Club-house. A light snack will be served.
The school is working on the two scholarships to be awarded.
Membership chairwoman Mary Samsa reported there are 84 paid members, but still 11 short. Bernie Steffen has moved to Plymouth in an assisted living and will remain in the Crivitz Unit. Her address is 611 Appleton St., Apt. 202, Plymouth, WI 53073.
A letter was received from Lillian Riegerts daughter stating her mother had a stroke which affected her memory and has to drop out of the Auxiliary. Samsa said this will be her last year as membership chair.
May is nomination of officers and names can be called to the president. Officers will be elected in June.
May is also Poppy month and distribution will be at Piggly-Wiggly in Crivitz from May 14-25. Contact the president if available to help.
The ALA spring conference is April 26 and if in need of a ride contact the president.

Camp American Legion for April asked for a 50 count box of gallon freezer bags, which was voted to be purchased. For May it is a $20 gas card which was also voted to be sent. Other donations approved were $25 each to Hariett Hubbert Registered Nurse and Health career scholarship and Scholarship Wis., a Child Welfare Scholarship.
King Day is June 15 and members voted to send money for 10 chicken dinners.
The Wisconsin Legislature passed a bill to honor five state servicemen who were killed in Afganistan, Cpl. Ross, Staff SSgt. Hermanson, Eppinger Jr., Elton and Sgt. Atim. The DePere Post Office will be named Cpl. Justin Ross in their honor.
General Mills Box Tops for Education are being saved, also Cambell labels. A sheet was passed around with many other box tops and labels to save for school. Take them to the meeting and the president will get them to where they should go.
It was decided to adopted a veteran, Joe Zilkowski who is at New Care.
The 50-50 was won by Nora Swanson and the meeting closed with prayer.
