Mary C. Conklin
Mary Catherine Conklin, 87, of Menominee, Mi., passed away Thursday, April 17 at Rennes Health Center-West.
Born July 22, 1926, in Grosse Point, Mi., to George and Mary Ann (Furton) Elwert, she graduated from Mt. Clemens High School in 1943 and married Harold Conklin on June 29, 1946 in Mt. Clemens, Mi.
A member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, she enjoyed knitting, making afghans, fishing, picnics, family reunions at Henes Park and taking care of her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Harold; a daughter, Jane (Ron) Tharp, of Wallace, Mi.; three sons, Dan (Janet) Conklin and Bill (Sally), both of Menominee, Mi. and James (Jan) Conklin, of Howard; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a great-great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Thomas and two sisters, Pat Kmechek and Margaret Olsen.
Visitation was held at Cadieu Thielen Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 22 at 4 p.m. until time of a Vigil prayer service at 6 p.m. with Fr. Mark McQuesten presiding. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated for the repose of her soul on Wednesday, April 23 at 11 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Fr. McQuesten presided with burial in Riverside Cemetery Menominee.
