THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Ethel Teddy Mikkelson, 88, of Gillett, passed away Thursday, April 24.
Born to, Albert and Alma (Johnson) Anderson on June 20, 1925, she taught school in Spruce before marrying Dale Mikkelson on Oct. 27, 1951 at Section Eight Baptist Church in Pound. She was a Substitute Teacher for 3 area School Districts. The couple farmed in the Town of Maple Valley until moving to Brillion in 1964. Retiring in 1988, the couple moved to Gillett in 1993.
The couple performed as a family duet for many weddings and funerals over the years. A member of Maple Valley Community Church, as their two sons developed their musical talents, they formed a Family Gospel String Band.
She is survived by her husband, Dale, of Gillett; two sons, Rodney (Laine) Mikkelson, of Oshkosh and Kent (Vickie) Mikkelson, of Clintonville; three sisters, Edith Sellen of Lena, Delores Sellen and Norene Micole, both of Oconto Falls; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Ellen, Irene and Vera.
Visitation will be held at Maple Valley Community Church on Thursday, May 1 from 9 a.m. until time of a funeral service at 11 a.m. Pastor Rick Cooney and Pastor Jim Jensen will officiate with Interment in Hickory Cemetery. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
