Captain Nikolas Folgert Is Bravo Co. Commander

A Change of Command Ceremony was held on Thursday, April 24 at 3:30 p.m. at the 1-10 ARB Hangar, Fort Drum, New York, when Captain Nikolas Folgert was installed Incoming Commander of Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 10th Aviation Regiment (ATTACK), 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry). He replaced outgoing Commander Captain Jonathan Knight.

Folgert of Marinette was presented his commission at graduation from Northern Michigan University at Marquette in 2007 where he majored in history. The oldest of four children, he has two brothers and a sister. His brothers, Captain Nathan Folgert is currently stationed with 2nd Signal Brigade at Wiesbaden, Germany, First Lieutenant Erin Folgert is with 687th Engineer Company, 1st MEB at Fort Polk, La.

After commissioning, Captain Nikolas Folgert was stationed at Fort Lewis, Wash. and Fort Sill, Okla. prior to reporting for Flight School. His sister, Kirstyn, resides in Marinette with her parents.

After graduating from Flight School in mid-2009, he was assigned to 4-2 Aviation (Attack) Regiment at Camp Humphreys, Korea, where he served as a Platoon Leader in both Charlie and Bravo Companies and then as a Battalion assistant operations officer.

In April 2012, Captain Folgert returned to Fort Rucker, Ala. where he completed the Aviation Maintenance Officers Course (AMOC), the AH-64D Maintenance Test Pilot Course (MTPC), and the Aviation Captain’s Career Course (AVC3). He was then assigned to the 10th Combat Aviation Brigade where he served as a Brigade assistant operations officer,

Captain Folgert’s awards include the Air Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, the Combat Action Badge, and the Army Aviator Badge. His military education includes Basic Officers Leadership Course (BOLC) Phases II and III, Survival Evasion Resistance and Escape (SERE), Aviation Maintenance Officers Course (AMOC), AH-64D Maintenance Test Pilot Course (MTPC), and Aviation Captain’s Career Course (AVC3).

A 2003 graduate of Marinette Catholic Central High School, Captain Folgert and his wife, Krista have two daughters, Kayla, Madaelyn, and a son, Oliver. His parents, Mike and Anita Folgert of the Town of Peshtigo, attended the ceremony.
