JoAnn Dorothy (Miller) Dobratz, 83, of Shawano, passed away on Monday, May 5.
Born Feb. 1, 1931 in Suring, daughter of Harry and Sarah Alice (Dieck) Miller, she graduated from Suring High School and attended Milwaukee Business College. On Dec. 12, 1953 she married Roland Dobratz in Suring and they enjoyed 60 years together.
They spent time watching their children and grandchildren grow, attending Packer games and relaxing on Kelly Lake. She enjoyed celebrating the Fourth of July each year with friends on Kelly Lake. Her blessing was the month of October 1997 when her granddaughters were born, which helped her enjoy later years. A longtime member of Peace UCC, she worked as a secretary for Franklin Middle School in Shawano.
She is survived by her best friend and husband, Roland; children, Kris (Dave) Kunkel and Dan (Sheri) Dobratz, all from Stevens Point, Heidi (Scott) Russell, of Bonduel; two granddaughters; a step-grandson; a sister, Claudine Telford of Cecil; a friend, Doris Belleque, of Vancouver, Wa; sisters-in-law, Angie Dobratz, of Green Bay, Althea Dobratz, of Plymouth and Nancy (Glenn) Cummings, of Cloverleaf Lakes; many cousins; nieces; nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Sarah Alice Miller; a brother, Bert Miller; a sister, Mae Marie Miller; in-laws; cousins; and a special friend, Lucille Madsen.
Visitation will be held at Peace United Church of Christ in Shawano on Sunday, May 11 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Monday, May 12 at 10 a.m. until time of a funeral service at 11 a.m., with Rev. Marty Black officiating. Memorials are being established for the Shawano County Humane Society and Navarino Wildlife Area. Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano is assisting the family with arrangements.
