James M. Konitzer
James M. Konitzer, 82, of Green Bay, passed away early Monday, May 5, after a brief illness.
Born Nov. 12, 1931 in Oconto Falls, to Martin and Edna (Busse) Konitzer, he married Loretta Lewins in Green Bay on Feb. 11, 1956. They celebrated 58 years of marriage in February. He served in the National Guard from 1950 to 1956 and worked at Georgia Pacific on Day Street, for 44 years.
He enjoyed bowling, fishing, cribbage, lawn jarts, campfires up north, sitting outside in his backyard in warm weather, but most of all enjoyed spending time with family and friends. A Chicago Cubs fan, he was also an avid Packer fan and had season tickets since the stadium opened.
Survivors include his wife, Loretta; five children, Dan Konitzer, Sue (Pete) King, Tom (Sheri) Konitzer, Jerry (Cindy) Konitzer and Joanne (Cal) Janus; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Maynard (Donna) Konitzer; a sister, Sandra (Bob) McGlothlen and a sister-in-law, Mert Konitzer.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, Barbara and Linda and a brother, Ken Konitzer.
Friends may call at Proko Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St., Green Bay from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 7 with a funeral service at 7:30 p.m. Rev. Julie Wrubbel-Lange will officiate with burial in Nicolet Memorial Gardens.
