Mary E. Sparr
Mary Ellen (DeGroot) Sparr, 73, of Crivitz, passed away Sunday, May 4 at Bay Area Medical Center in Marinette.
Born Dec. 30, 1940, to Arthur and Eugenia (Duquaine) DeGroot in Crivitz, she married August Oleck June 22, 1962 at St. John's Catholic Church in Coleman. The couple resided in Crivitz where they owned and operated Oleck Plumbing. He preceded her in death April 26, 1981.
She then married Kenneth Sparr Aug. 9, 1985 at St. Augustine's Church in Wausaukee. The couple resided in the Town of Stephenson where she was Town Clerk for 22 years and a Town Supervisor for four years. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Surviving are her husband, Kenneth; two sons, Michael (Judy) Oleck, of Crivitz and Dennis (Darla) Sparr, of Middle Inlet; five daughters, Shelly (Al) Kempka, of Crivitz, Linda Oleck (Dan Zahorik), of Amberg, Lisa (Joe) Beres, of Franklin, Debra Sparr, of Colorado and Dianne Holmes, of Washington State; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Joyce DeGroot, of Marinette and Betty Kriedeman, of Porterfield.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Carol and two grandsons, Lee and Michael.
Friends and family may call at Rhodes Charapata Funeral Home in Crivitz on Thursday, May 8 from 1 p.m. until time of a Memorial Service at 3 p.m. Rev. William Stengel will officiate with burial in St Marys Cemetery.
