Losses Continue To Pile Up In Bay Baseball For Marines
The losses continue to pile up for the Marinette Marine baseball team as their diamond mark dipped to 3-8-1 following 4 more setbacks this week. Marinette fell to West DePere Friday 10-0, lost a doubleheader to Hortonville Saturday 13-1 and 6-2 before getting knocked off by Luxemburg-Casco Tuesday 9-1.
Now 3-6 in the Bay Conference and owning a 6-game losing streak, the Marines host Lux-Casco Thursday before taking on Oconto Falls in a road game Monday and a home clash Tuesday.

In a makeup clash from earlier in the week, the Marines had a tough time on the road Friday losing to West DePere 10-0. Marinette managed just 3 hits in the game...singles by Jacob Swenson and losing pitcher Alex Gressel along with a double by Luke Johnson.
West DePere broke a scoreless game with 7 runs in the third inning and 3 more in the fifth to win in five frames. Jack Paulson lashed a two-run single in the third, Matt Bald RBI and Max Wickman a run scoring groundout to go along with three Marinette errors.
In the seventh, singles by Gehertt Evans and Cal Haerlache along with a walk and sac fly off the bat of Paulson produced the runs.
Gressel took the loss yielding 10 runs ( 3 earned) on 7 hits with 2 walks and 2 strikeouts.

It was a long Saturday for the Marines as first place Hortonville took both ends of a doubleheader 13-1 and 6-2.
In the opener, Marinette was held to one hit by winning pitcher Alex McIntosh, who fanned 6 and walked 2 during the 5-inning affair. Marinettes only hit was a fourth inning leadoff homer off the bat of Aaron Benson.
Marinette starter Jimmy Jackimowicz along with relievers Caylubb Maske and Blake Miller were roughed up for 11 hits.
Josh Toonen belted a two-run double in the first inning and Cullen Sager two-run single in the fifth.
Game two was a little closer with the Marines suffering a 6-2 defeat. Benson scattered 7 hits and walked five over 7 innings.
The visiting team in the nightcap, the Marines took a 1-0 first inning lead as Jackimowicz doubled and scored on a two-out single by Jacob Swenson.
Hortonville scored twice in the second frame on two walks and singles by Toonen and Joe Fassbender, then tacked on two more runs in the third third inning on a RBI double by Conner Haffeman and sac fly from Parker Thome for a 4-1 lead.
Singles by Fassbender and Jake Sommers padded the margin to 6-1 in the fourth.
Marinettes final run came in the fifth when Kevin Konyn and Benson stroked one-out singles and Swenson unloaded a RBI double.
Trailing 6-2, the Marines loaded the bases in the seventh as Konyn got aboard on an error, Benson walked and Alex Servatius was hit by a pitch. The threat ended when Kolby Garza hit into a fielders choice for the third out.

Hits In L-C Setback
Coming up with just 4 hits off winning pitcher Caleb Willems and reliever Dupree Stevenson, the Marines were knocked off 9-1 Tuesday.
Marinette fell behind 9-0 before registering a run in the sixth inning when Aaron Benson walked and scored following an error.
L-C roughed up Marinette starter Alex Gressel for 9 runs ( 8 earned) on 7 hits with 7 walks and 4 strikeouts over 4 2/3 innings. Reliever Kevin Konyn fanned two while giving up one hit.
Marinette hits came off the bats of Jimmy Jackimowicz, Jacob Swenson, Blake Miller and Colton Dessart.
Aaron Thiry slapped out two hits and scored twice for L-C.
