THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Claryce Finger Has 106th Birthday
A prominent City of Peshtigo matron, Claryce Finger marked her 106th birthday on Monday, May 5. Family and friends gathered at her apartment at the Renaissance in Marinette on Sunday for a small celebration.
Born on May 5, 1908 to the late George and Frances Borchert on a little farm in Swede Town in the County Line/Little River area, she married Lawrence Finger on July 25, 1931. He had just gotten a job at the then new Badger Paper Mills, Inc. so the couple moved to Peshtigo. During his working years at Badger Paper Mills, he never missed a day of work. He died in 1992.
Prior to her marriage, Claryce was employed at the Oconto Hospital as a practical nurse for five years. She resided at the family home on East Front Street until she moved to the Renaissance on March 3, 2009. A member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Peshtigo, occasionally she served as an usher with her son, Jim. For many years she volunteered on Mondays and Fridays at Rennes Health Center-West.
