Marcella L. Giguere
Marcella L. Giguere, 97, of Wausau, passed away Tuesday, May 6, at Our House Assisted Living in Wausau under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
Born March 27, 1917 in Marshfield, daughter of John and Frances (Stanislawski) Schultz, she married Donald Giguere there on June 26, 1952 and he preceded her in death on Sept. 23, 1994. She graduated from McKinley High School in Marshfield and earned a bachelor degree in education at UW-Stevens Point. She then took post graduate classes at UW-Madison and taught High School biology in both Winter, Wi. and Niagara. She worked as a Librarian at Niagara High School and at the Niagara branch of the Marinette County Library.
A member of the Marinette County Library Board, she was also a member of the Christian Mothers Guild at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Niagara and St. Vincent de Paul Society. She enjoyed volunteer work, volunteering at St. Vincent de Paul Stores and Red Cross and was a blood donor. An active member of the Woman's Athletic Association at UW-Stevens Point, she participated in basketball, tennis and field hockey.
Survivors include, a daughter, Mary (Gary) Forseth, Wausau; a son, Jon (Cheryl) Giguere, DePere; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Besides her parents and husband, Donald, she was preceded in death by three brothers; three sisters and two nephews.
Friends may call on Saturday, May 24 from 10:30 a.m. until time of a Memorial Mass at noon at the Church of St. Anne, Wausau. Rev. Alan Burkhardt will preside with inurnment in the Niagara Cemetery. A memorial fund is being established. Peterson Kraemer Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
