Herbert E. Mikle
Herbert E. Mikle, 76, of Tucson, Az., passed away May 4.
Born in Oneida, to Ervin and Ethel (Giese) Mikle, he married Lorraine Johnson there on July 20, 1957 at Zion Lutheran Church. He was a tractor mechanic , working at Gillett Implement and Green Line in Pound. He then worked for 25 at Riesterer and Schnell in Pulaski.
He enjoyed camping, snowmobiling, his dog, Lady, traveling with his wife throughout the United States and for the last five years resided in Arizona. He also enjoyed fishing, shooting trap and hunting, especially out West with his sons and other family and friends. He loved polka music and playing the accordion in his band, Polka Deers. A member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Gillett, he was wise, funny, merry-hearted and loving man and enjoyed sharing his experiences and life stories.
He is survived by two daughters, Laurieann (Chuck) Chapin, of Oconto Falls and Christina Mikle, of Suring; seven sons, Peter (Cindy) Mikle, of Seymour, Richard (Susan) Mikle, of Gillett, Duane (Beverly) Mikle, of Tucson, Az., Daniel Mikle, of Gulliver, Mi., Steven Mikle, of Shawano, Thomas (Jean) Mikle of Rhinelander and John Mikle, of Suring; two brothers, Conrad (Linda) Mikle, of Oneida and Reuben Mikle, of Underhill; a sister, Carol Melchert of Oneida; 23 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine on Sept. 30, 2010; a granddaughter, Jennifer Mikle and a brother-in-law, Willis Melchert.
Visitation will be held at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Gillett on Wednesday, May 14 from 2 p.m. until time of a funeral service at 6 p.m., with Pastor Harvey Jeffers officiating. He will be buried next to his wife in Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, Oneida. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in Suring is assisting the family with arrangements.
