Coleman Legion Plans Memorial Day Services
Coleman--The Kalbes-Seewald American Legion Post 280 of Coleman will present a Memorial Day program at Coleman High School on Monday, May 26 at 10:30 a.m. Veterans wishing to participate are asked to be at the school at 9:30 a.m.
Guest speaker will be US Navy Chaplain Lt. Rob Friebel. The Coleman High School Band and Choir will take part along with other musical selections, videos, poems and a special tribute given to veterans killed in action. The public is welcome in honoring memory of veterans lost in service.
A potluck luncheon will follow at the Legion Hall for Legion members and their families. Baked chicken, rolls, potato salad, baked beans and coleslaw will be provided. Those attending are asked to bring a hot dish, salad or dessert to pass.
The American Legion will also have new, high quality nylon flags available on site for purchase. The flags are priced at $17 (3x5), $22 (4x6), and $27 (5x8). Faded or torn flags will be collected also. Drop off sites where to take faded or torn flags anytime are Pelkins Piggly Wiggly in Coleman, Ace Hardware in Pound, and the Coleman Shell Station. Flags collected will be disposed of at the annual Flag Disposal Ceremony held by the Coleman American Legion in September.
