Crivitz Airport Meeting June 2
A public informational meeting on the Crivitz
is scheduled for 8 p.m., Monday, June 2 at Stephenson Town Hall on county X west of Crivitz. The meeting was arranged by the Plan Commission in connection with a mandate from the Bureau of Aeronautics and the state of Wisconsin that the town prepare a six year improvement plan for the airport on County W at Airport Road.
At its February meeting, the town board asked the Plan Commission to work on the plan. Town Chair Mike Kudick declared at the time they do not intend to expand, but do want to maintain it, which can be done with little or no cost to local property tax payers if the state and federal money is accepted.
Plan Commission Chair Dave Anderson stressed that the money available for airport projects comes from taxes on airplane fuel, tickets, etc., and the municipal airport also collects rent from private pilots who maintain hangars at the airport.
The Crivitz Airport, owned by the Town of Stephenson, is the only official airport located in Marinette County. Marinette County is half owner of Twin County Airport in Menominee.
