Kathryn A. Bugni
Kathryn A. Bugni, 91, of Iron River, Mi., formerly of Hermansville, Mi., passed away Saturday, May 10 at Northstar Health System.
Born in Hermansville Jan. 15, 1923, to Joseph and Anna (Nazay) Rodman, immigrants from Croatia, which was known at the time as Yugoslavia, she was the fifth child of 12 children. She graduated from Hermansville High School in June of 1941 as Salutatorian of her class. After graduation, she was employed by the First National Bank of Hermansville, where she worked until her marriage to John Bugni, of Wakefield, on June 10, 1950 at St. Marys Church in Hermansville.
The couple moved to Iron River where they resided since. He preceded her in death on Jan. 23, 2003. Shortly after living in Iron River, she was employed at the First National Bank of Iron River and worked there for 36 plus years, retiring in April of 1988.
A 73 year member of the Croatian Fraternal Union and the Holy Cross Lodge #259 of Hermansville. she was also a member of St. Agnes Parish of Iron River, served as Treasurer of the Altar Society and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 0017 of Iron River.
She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, word-a-searches and watching TV, especially the Green Bay Packers or Tom Izzos Michigan State Spartans.
She is survived by a brother, Frank J. (Colleen) Rodman, of Hermansville, Mi.; three sisters, Frances Lodde, of Milwaukee, Veronica Ropele, of Norway, Mi. and Barbara (Richard) Johnson, of Minneapolis; many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Joseph, John, Nick, and Rudy Rodman; her sisters, Anna and Mary Rodman and Dorothy Occhino; her brothers-in-law, John Lodde Sr., Marvin Ropele, and Joseph Occhino; a sister-in-law, Lucile Rodman and a nephew, John Lodde Jr.
Visitation was held Monday, May 19 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. at Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. A Mass of Christian Burial followed at 11:30 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church with Rev. Gregory Veneklase officiating. Interment was in Resthaven Cemetery. Memorials contributions can be made to the food pantry of St. Vincent de Paul of Iron River.
