Grayce Vivian Erickson, 91, of Neenah, formerly of Menominee, Mi., passed away at Theda Clark Medical Center, Thursday, May 29.
Born Jan. 3, 1923 in Green Bay, to Roseann (Matysiak) Strozoda, she married the late Ivan Szymik in Marinette in 1941 and he preceded her in death in April of 1967. She resided in Menominee, Mi., until 1965 and then moved to Neenah. She worked for Kimberly-Clark Corporation Neenah Paper Company until she retired. She met Leonard Erickson while living in Neenah and they were married Sept. 15, 1978, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church.
She enjoyed flower beds around her home, created by her husband and also enjoyed sewing, knitting, crafts and vacationing, but golfing was her main interest. An accomplished golfer, she was a member of North Shore Golf Club in Menominee, Mi. and Bridgewood Golf Course in Neenah, winning many league championships and awards. She was a also a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, Neenah.
She is survived by her husband, Leonard; sons, Jerome Szymik, Marinette and Patrick (Dorothy) Szymik, Greenville; a daughter-in-law, Kitty Szymik, Green Bay; step-sons, David (Jane) Erickson, Wild Rose and Dean (Ramona) Erickson, Greenfield; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
In addition to her first husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Szymik and a grandson, Clint Erickson.
Visitation will be held Friday, June 6 at 10 a.m. until time of a Memorial Service at 11 a.m. at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 620 Division St., Neenah, with Fr. Michael Ingold officiating. Inurnment will be in Forest Home Cemetery in Marinette. A memorial has been established in her name for St. Margaret Mary Parish. Kessler Funeral Home, Neenah is assisting the family with arrangements.
