Mary J. Valley
Mary June (Hallett) Valley, 92, of Lena, passed away March 3, due to cancer, surrounded by her family in Florida.
Born June 1, 1922, in Lena, to Victor and Dora Hallett, she married Louis Valley of Lena on Oct. 8, 1940 and was a lifelong member of St. Anne Catholic Church.
Best known for her cooking, she was cook for the former St. Charles Grade School in Lena for many years. She attended many Green Bay Packers games with her friend, Petty Garrigan of Green Bay and enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing in the Dunbar and Crivitz area. She also enjoyed visiting her friend, Margaret Jorns of Sturgeon Bay whom she met while their husbands were serving in the Navy during World War II. She looked forward to summers in Crivitz with her family and grandchildren and spent winters in Florida, but always looked forward to going back home in the spring by friends in Lena.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas and Peggy and Randy and Grace Valley; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Lulla "Babe" Delecorps, Chicago, Ill.; many friends and relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Louis Valley in February of 1989; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Kenneth (Agnes), Donald (Gladys) and Harold (Joyce) Hallett; a sister and brother-in-law, Rennie and Vincent Thomson and a brother-in-law, Howard Delacorps.
Visitation will be held at St. Anne Catholic Church in Lena June 28 at 9 a.m. until time of a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Interment will take place at St. Charles Catholic Cemetery, Lena.
