Gerald L. "J.J" Johnson, 71, of Menominee, passed away Tuesday with his family by his side.
Born Sept. 17, 1942 in Manitowoc, he graduated from Menominee High School in 1961 and married Lynne Peterson June 1, 1963 in Menominee. He was employed by Scott Paper in Marinette for 20 years. He then owned and operated J.J's Bar and Grill in Birch Creek and was also employed at Buy Rite and Bob's Mobile Homes in Peshtigo.
He was an avid Menominee Sports fan, enjoyed fishing, old cars and spending time with his family and friends.
Surviving are a son Erik (Inga) Johnson, of Menominee; three daughters Kimberly Derusha and Jennifer (Randy) Rivard, both of Menominee and Jessica Johnson, of Marinette; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Sandy Herbst and a brother, Robert Johnson, both of Marinette.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Allie Johnson; a brother, Wayne; a son, Jason and a great-grandson, Carter.
Friends may call Friday, July 4 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 411 McAllister St., Marinette from 1 p.m. until time of a Memorial Service at 2 p.m., with Elder Don Carlson officiating. Rhodes Charapata Funeral Home in Crivitz is assisting the family.
