John J. Shaffer
John Joseph Shaffer, 59, of Middle Inlet, passed away Tuesday, July 1 with his family by his side at Bay Area Medical Center.
Born to Anthony and Marian (Shady) Shaffer Aug. 25, 1954 in Bridgeville, Pa., his mother died in 1959 and in 1960, his father married Frances Jett, who helped raise him. He moved to Crivitz in his mid twenties and married Sharon Wutkowski Nov. 28, 1981 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Wausaukee. He worked at Waupaca Foundry for the past 25 years until retiring Jan. 3, 2014.
He enjoyed golfing, was a Steelers fan, was a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter, Trinity.
Surviving are his wife Sharon; two sons, Jonathan (Kelly) Shaffer, Wauwatosa and James (Heather) Shaffer, Marinette; a daughter, Mary Beth (special friend Justin) Shaffer, Peshtigo; a granddaughter; four siblings, Aleta (Tom) Morrell, Lynne (Bob) Beltrame, Joe (Cyndie) Shaffer and Mary Kay (Al) Basak, all of Crivitz; cousin and lifelong friend, Robert Vogliano, Akron, Oh.; many nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony, Marian and Frances and a brother and sister-in-law, Anthony and Diane Shaffer.
Relatives and friends may call at Rhodes Charapata Funeral Home, Crivitz on Thursday, July 3 from 9 a.m. until 12:45 p.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. at St. Marys Catholic Church, Crivitz. Fr. Frederick Sserugga will officiate with burial in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery, Crivitz.
