Pastor Kenneth C. Schlueter
Pastor Kenneth C. Schlueter, 76, passed away unexpectedly, Wednesday, July 2.
Born Feb. 8, 1938, to Henry and Clara (Vissering) Schlueter, of Flanagan, Ill., he graduated from Flanagan High School and received degrees from Wartburg College and Wartburg Seminary. He later received his Masters Degree from Princeton Theological School, Princeton and married Sharleen Roefer of Jeffers, Mn. on June 4, 1961.
He leaves a legacy through his service as a Lutheran Pastor, with the numerous churches he served as a fulltime and interim Pastor. Many of those years were spent as the Chaplain at Northland Lutheran Retirement Community, Marinette. He celebrated the 50th anniversary of his ordination into Ministry on June 7, 2014 and was a faithful servant to the end. He will be missed, but wonderful memories will always be there.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sharleen; three children, Michael (Karen) Schlueter, Julie (Gary) Schlueter Engen and Amy (Alan) Swatloski; seven grandchildren; a brother, Marvelyn (Wanda) Schlueter and a sister, Lorraine Harms, both from Illinois.
Visitation was held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 8 at Calvary Lutheran Church, Green Bay. A memorial has been established in his honor for the Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity or the Local Food Shelf. Hansen Onion Martell Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
