Wesley C. Branyan
Wesley C. Branyan, of Menominee, MI passed away Thursday, July 17 on his 84th birthday at the Menominee Care Center.
Born July 17, 1930 in Battle Creek, Mi., to George and Pauline (Heritz) Branyan, he served in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1954. On Sept. 4, 1954, he married the former Pauline Yates in Manchester, England and she preceded him in death. On Feb. 14, 1986, he married the former Joan Salfai, in Hawaii. He opened and managed the Tempo Store in Menominee, Mi., for many years and later purchased the Gamble Store in Stephenson, Mi. and served as the Menominee County Assessor.
He enjoyed golfing at North Shore Golf Club, wintering in South Padre Island, Tx., playing cribbage and pinochle and took great pride in his garden and home. A member of the Board of Canvassers, American Legion, Masonic Temple and the Shriners, he was elected and installed as Potentate of Ahmed Temple on Jan. 7, 2000.
Survivors include his wife, Joan of Menominee; four children, Sandra Ann (William) Herrick, of Milwaukee, Rodney Carl (Mary Ann) Branyan, of Forest Grove, Or., Jane Marie (Sergio) DaCruz, of Switzerland and Karen Lee (Michael) McDermott, of Riverview, Fla.; two step-children, Deborah (Jim) Rupert, of Menominee and Stephen Red (Sherry) Salfai, of Omro; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild; five step-grandchildren; six step-great- grandchildren; a sister, Marilyn Kelley, of Ohio and a brother, Russell Branyan of New Mexico.
Family and friends attended a Celebration of Life at 4:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 20 at Table Six, Menominee. Anderson Kell Funeral Home, Menominee assisted the family with arrangements.
