Krystin Kuffner Rau

Krystin Kuffner Rau, 44, of Highlands Ranch, Colo., died Tuesday, July 8 at Sky Ridge Medical Center in Long Tree, Colo. She had been ill with Medullary Thyroid cancer for the past eight years.

Family members and friends attended a funeral service held Wednesday, July 9. Cremation took place.

The daughter of Richard and Cathy (Hansen) Kuffner of Oceanside, Calif., she was born Oct. 30, 1969. She married Andreas Rau and the couple have three children, Maximilian, 18, Alexander, 13, and Benjamin, 11.

Also surviving are her parents; a sister, Gretchen Long, and three children of Gilbert, Ariz.; a brother, Karl and Shawn Hansen and two sons of San Diego, Calif.; uncles and aunts, Dr. Robert and Kathleen Hansen of Elwyn, Ill. and David and Kathleen Kuffner of Wilmette, Ill.

She had been a certified medical assistant and cared for alzheimers patients.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Jack and Mary Hansen of Peshtigo, and her paternal grandparents, John and Eleanor Kuffner of Sturgeon Bay.

Terri Jo Ryan

Terri Jo (Fugate) Ryan, 59, of Oconto, passed away at Aurora Bay Care Hospital on Thursday, July 17.

Born March 26, 1955, in Marinette, to Wesley and Sandra Fugate, she worked at the Menominee Paper Mill and was an NWTC graduate. She enjoyed boating, camping and spending time with family and friends in Florida.

She is survived by her children, Jamie (Shelby) Harris, of Muncie, Ind. and Aly Linstad, of Oconto; a grandson; her parents, Wesley and Sandra Fugate; brothers, Randy Fugate and Dan Fugate; a sister, Vickey Bornemann; many nieces; nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by a son, Jon Boyle; a daughter, Melissa Boyle; a sister, Peggy Fugate and grandparents, Robert and Mary Fugate and Elmer and Dorothy West.

A Memorial Gathering was held at Hansen Onion Martell Funeral Home in Marinette from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 20 with a memory sharing time at 2 p.m. 



Benjamin N. Schumacher

Benjamin N. Schumacher, 90, of Green Bay, passed away Wednesday, July 16.

Born Dec. 14, 1923, in Green Bay, he served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. On May 17, 1947, he married Anne De Bock at Annunciation Catholic Church in Green Bay. He owned and operated a farm in the Pulaski area for many years and retired from Paper Converting after being employed as a draftsman for many years.

He is survived by his children, Mary and Bruce Hausauer, Owosso, Mi., Glenn and Sharon Schumacher, Peshtigo, Karen and David Anderson, Lodi and Becky Hecker, Sterling Heights, Mi.; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and a sister, Rita Schumacher.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Anne; a daughter, Eileen; a granddaughter, April Louise Schumacher; a sister and three brothers.

Friends called at Annunciation Catholic Church, Green Bay at 10 a.m. until time of a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 21. Rev. Ryan Starks officiated, with entombment in Allouez Chapel Mausoleum. Blaney Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements. A memorial fund was established in his name for Unity Hospice.

Kathleen Ann Thomas

Kathleen Ann Thomas, 71, Peshtigo, died at Bay Area Medical Center in Marinette on Saturday, July 19.

Born Nov. 25, 1942 in Menominee, Mich. to Walter and Ethel (Tootie) Strojny, she graduated from Peshtigo High School in 1961, then from Spencerian Business College of Milwaukee in 1963 as a court reporter/legal secretary. On June 22, 1963 she married Gene Thomas of Peshtigo and recently celebrated 51 years of marriage.

She worked as a secretary in the Civil Engineering Department at Michigan Tech while her husband attended college there and spent the balance of her working career as office manager/bookkeeper for Thomas Well Drilling of Peshtigo, then as a caregiver for her mother and father-in-law. She will be remembered for her love of gardening, snowmobiling and knitting for her grandchildren and others.

Survivors include her husband, Gene; son, Scott (Angela) Thomas of Peshtigo; five grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; daughter-in-law, Annette Thomas of Plymouth; sister, Jane Gignac of Peshtigo; and brother, Gary (Lois) Strojny of Suamico.

She was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey; a brother, Daniel; her parents; and mother and father-in-law.

In accordance with her wishes there will be no services.
