Krystin Kuffner Rau, 44, of Highlands Ranch, Colo., died Tuesday, July 8 at Sky Ridge Medical Center in Long Tree, Colo. She had been ill with Medullary Thyroid cancer for the past eight years.
Family members and friends attended a funeral service held Wednesday, July 9. Cremation took place.
The daughter of Richard and Cathy (Hansen) Kuffner of Oceanside, Calif., she was born Oct. 30, 1969. She married Andreas Rau and the couple have three children, Maximilian, 18, Alexander, 13, and Benjamin, 11.
Also surviving are her parents; a sister, Gretchen Long, and three children of Gilbert, Ariz.; a brother, Karl and Shawn Hansen and two sons of San Diego, Calif.; uncles and aunts, Dr. Robert and Kathleen Hansen of Elwyn, Ill. and David and Kathleen Kuffner of Wilmette, Ill.
She had been a certified medical assistant and cared for alzheimers patients.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Jack and Mary Hansen of Peshtigo, and her paternal grandparents, John and Eleanor Kuffner of Sturgeon Bay.
