THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Rosemary Christenson, 90, of Little Suamico, passed away July 18, surrounded by her family.
Born Dec. 15, 1923 in Milwaukee to, Joseph and Emily (Smith) Ratajczyk-Rice, she worked at Ziegler Candy in Milwaukee 15 years prior to meeting Maurice Christenson whom she married on Sept. 12, 1959 in Brookside. He preceded her in death on March 18, 2004.
A city girl, she quickly adapted to country life and was surrounded by her children and loved spending time with her grandson Drew. She enjoyed cooking canning, crocheting, sewing, finding new craft projects, cards and reading. She loved to listen to music, especially polka and was an excellent dancer.
She is survived by a daughter, Cindie (Paul) Goodpaster, Maribel; a son, Curtis Christenson, Little Suamico; two grandsons; three great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Alice (John) Bailey, New Mexico, Russel Christenson and Robert (Joanne) Christenson, both of Milwaukee, June (George) Glazel, Campbellsport, Clayton (Mabel) Christenson, Hartford and Arlene Christenson, Colorado; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by two sisters and their husbands, Mary Ann (Harry) Heideman and Irene (Ralph) Dall; brother and sister-in-laws, Earl Christenson, Dorothy (Charlie) Gleason, Helen (Arnold) Zimmerman, Doris (Vern) Richardson, Mary (John) Oberle and Henry Rotering.
Friends may call at Rhodes Charapata Funeral Home, Oconto from 4 p.m. until time of a Parish Wake Service at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 25. Visitation will continue from 9 a.m. until time of a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 26 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Oconto. Fr. Bob Karuhn will officiate with burial in Brookside Cemetery.
