Big Crowd Expected For Trappers Convention And Outdoor Show July 24-27

The largest trapping and outdoor show ever to come to Escanaba or the Upper Peninsula begins on Thursday July 24 and ends at noon on July 27. This 4 day event will be happening July 24-27 at the U.P. State Fairgrounds from 8:00 A.M. to 6:00 PM EST and Sunday from 8am-noon. Admission is $10 for all four days with kids under 12 admitted free.

Famous trappers and outdoor experts will be on hand presenting demos on trapping, fur handling, and hunting every hour on the hour. The demos will also be projected on to a big screen so all will be able to see. There will be 27 presentations throughout the event. John Graham, Bud LeAnna, Bill Mackowski, Bob Noonan, Red O 'Hearn are just a few of the pros who will be sharing their tips for success. What a great chance to learn from and visit in person with famous people we 've seen on TV or read about in magazines. Taking in their demos is sure to improve our success on the Trapline, said Jim Fornetti longtime member of U.P. Trappers. Some demos are restricted to NTA members. Membership sign-up will be available on site. A complete list of demonstrators, schedules, dealers and other convention information is available at www.nationaltrappers.com.

There will be something of interest to all members of the family at this event. Nearly every well-known trapping supply and outdoor gear dealer in the country will be on hand with many offering convention specials. Countless tailgaters will be offering a vast variety of goods for sale. Some people who have never trapped in their life still attend NTA conventions to shop for the unique items some of these fine vendors have for sale.

Guided tours of: Historic city of Marquette, Fayette State Park/Big Springs, Pictured Rocks (boat) and Local Shopping/Wine Excursion will be available. Raffles with the 2014 print of the year (Mountain Lion) and the 2014 gun of the year (Ruger Red Label) are a couple of featured items to be won. Silent auctions trap setting and skillet tossing contests will take place. Two fur fashion shows will occur on Saturday along with a dance that night with Runaway Train on stage. A non-denominational church service is scheduled for Sunday.

At least 16 food and refreshment vendors will be there offering their delicious local cuisine. Beer tents will be operating. An ATM is on the grounds and Wi-Fi is available. And the unique Steam and Gas Village Museum located on the grounds will be open for attendee 's viewing pleasure.

The award winning Growing U.P. Foresters will be there for the kids, and youngsters will also be treated to free fishing and many other children 's games and fun activities at the Pocket Park. There are also age categories for the trap setting contest which the kids may participate in.

The award-winning Growing UP Foresters Exhibit, the Antique Steam and Gas Engine Village, and the unique DNR Pocket Park will be open. Supervised pellet guns, archery, and fishing for the kids. Workshops and demos on candle-making, blacksmithing, spinning, weaving, etc. at the Antique Village. Two wild fur fashion shows on Saturday at 11am and 1pm. Even a Saturday night dance featuring Runaway Train with their mix of country, bluegrass and old-time rock and roll - many have enjoyed this great band in Porterfield or Rhinelander Wisconsin.

Admission is only $10 for all four days and kids under 12 are admitted free. The U.P. Trappers Association, the CVB, the Chamber, the NTA, and others are working hard to make this a great show and invite everyone to attend. For further information please visit www.convention.uptrappers.com.

This event could be a once in a lifetime experience for many and could become the destination of the annual family vacation.
