Robert T. Larsen
Robert (Bob) Thorwald Larsen, 93, of Germantown, passed away Saturday, July 27 at Community Memorial Hospital in Menomonee Falls.
Born April 17, 1921, in Menominee, Mi., to Thorwald and Martha (Salewsky) Larsen, he graduated from Menominee High School and Michigan Technological University with a degree in mechanical engineering. He earned additional masters degrees at the UW-Wisconsin and also did graduate studies at M.I.T. and Purdue University.
He married Doreen Diane Dungan on April 10, 1954 and she preceded him in death in 2006. He worked at General Motors, Standard Oil of Indiana and Outboard Marine Corporation, receiving numerous individual and joint patents during his career. During his 25 years with Outboard Marine, his working relationship with company president Ralph Evinrude was reminiscent of earlier professional collaborations between his grandfather, Louis, and his father and company founder, Ole.
Serving many years as deacon and trustee of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Wauwatosa, he was also active in Boy Scouts with his sons. After retiring in 1983, the couple relocated from Menomonee Falls to Three Lakes, Belleview, Fla. and Pewaukee.
He is survived by three children, Donald (Megan) Larsen, of The Woodlands, Tx.; David Larsen, of Arlington, Va. and Marian (Anthony) DeStefano, of Grafton and three granddaughters.
Visitation will be held at 10:30 a.m. until time of a Memorial Service Celebration of Life at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 16 at Brookfield Presbyterian Church, 1485 N. Brookfield Road, Brookfield. Memorial gifts can be made in his name to Milwaukee Rescue Mission or Florida United Methodist Children's Home. Ritter-Larsen Bros. Church and Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
