George J. Skarban
George J. Skarban, 75, of Oconto, passed away July 22.
Born Jan. 23, 1939, to George and Wilma (Ziesmer) Skarban, he graduated from Oconto Falls High School in 1957 and married Darlene McFadden on Nov. 26, 1960.
He enjoyed riding his moped, playing cards, pickle ball, coffee breaks with friends, time with family and was loved by many. He served in the United States Army National Guard from 1957-1964 and was a member of AMVETS.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Darlene; two daughters, Lori (Gary) Shehow and Sandi (Paul) Reed; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Irene Skarban and Georgia Anne Effenburger; two brothers, Norbert (Darlene) Skarban and Otto (Cathy) Skarban; many nieces; nephews; four sisters-in-law, Pat Skarban, Florence Hayes, Elaenor (Terry) Bendt, Margie McFadden and Stella (Regis) Gentz and two brothers-in-law, Bob McFadden and John (Yvonne) McFadden.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Howard and a niece, Trish Skarban-Waschbisch.
The family received relatives and friends at Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 24. Visitation continued on Friday, July 25 from 10 a.m. until time of a funeral service at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Frederik Schulz officiated with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Military rites were conducted by Oconto American Legion.
