Raymond A. Slawik
Raymond A. Slawik, 86, of Marinette passed away Thursday, July 24 at Sun Valley Homes II.
Born April 5, 1928, to Joseph and Victoria (Cetnar) Slawik, in Marinette, he graduated from Marinette High School in 1947 and worked with his father in construction for two years. He then served in the United States Army during the Korean War where he received the Purple Heart.
On Oct. 4, 1952, he married Rose M. Pfeiff at St. Josephs Church in Marinette and she preceded him in death on Dec. 9, 2008. He worked at Scott Paper for 28 years, retiring in 1990. A member of Holy Family Parish and the VFW, he enjoyed gardening, playing cards, traveling, woodworking, the casino and helping his family.
He is survived by two sons, John (Doris) Slawik, of Menominee and Joe (Rebecca) Slawik, of Marinette; a daughter-in-law, Ruth Slawik; four grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Rose, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Roger.
Visitation was held at Thielen Funeral Home on Monday, July 28 from 4 p.m. until time of the funeral services at 6 p.m. Deacon Jerome Thetreau officiated with burial in Lost Lake Cemetery.
