Library Reading Programs a Success
On Friday, Aug. 1st the Crivitz Library hosted entertainer Jim Lenz who performed his science and magic show for a crowd of 93 adults and children. This was the culmination of the summer reading program for the library. After a lunch of hot dogs, chips, string cheese and cookies the summer readers were awarded treat bags and door prizes.
According to branch manager, Cyndie Shaffer, 69 children completed the reading program. The top readers in each age group were: Savannah Thompson (ages 3-5), Isabella Logan (6-8), Monica Nowak and Anakin Roman ( 9-11) and Liam Roman (12 and up). Each of the top readers received a back pack and a cone coupon. The Library thanks Saputo Cheese of Lena for donating the string cheese, Marge Banaszak for donating fruit and the Crivitz Library Advisory Board for donating the beverages and the back packs.
Twenty- one Crivitz residents also recently participated in the Timber Rattlers Reading challenge. For each 30 minutes of reading time the reader earned a paper baseball and a token prize. Once the child earned four baseballs they were eligible for a free ticket to a Timber Rattlers game and a food voucher for a free hot dog and soda.
The children who finished the program were Blake Bonikowske, Tyler Bonikowske, Brady Phillips, Ryan Berntson, Charlotte Klukas, Caleb McCullough, Corinne McCullough, Madelyn Welty, Jacob Harper, Izin Hahn, Reese Breitholtz, Morgan VanLanen. Wyatt VanLanen, David Harris, Matthew Harris, Riley Roman, Sam Roman, Liam Roman, Anakin Roman, Brooklyn Gacek and Jeremiah Gacek.
