Scott D. Eckert, 49, of Stephenson, Mi., passed away Friday, Aug. 1 at Bay Area Medical Center as a result of a work accident.
Born Oct. 2, 1964 in Marinette, to Eugene and Sandra (Mueller) Eckert, he married the former Wendy Vetort at Henes Park in Menominee, Mi., on June 16, 1990. He worked in the family business, Eckert Vending for many years and most recently for Plutchak Fabricating as a machine operator.
He enjoyed working outdoors and being hands on in the construction trade. A true outdoorsman, he enjoyed going to camp, hunting, fishing, canoeing, camping and riding 4-wheelers. He took pride in being with Wendy and teaching his boys valuable lessons in life. He further enjoyed John Deere Tractors and his baby, his truck, but above all, being with his family is what brought him the greatest joy.
Survivors include his mother, Sandra, of Marinette; wife and best friend, Wendy, of Stephenson, Mi.; sons, Spencer and Tyler, of Stephenson, Mi.; a sister, Debbie (Brad) McCarville, of Appleton; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jim and Edith Vetort; brothers-in-law, Raymond (Gina) Vetort, Roy (Julie) Vetort and Steve (Krista) Vetort, all of Stephenson, Mi. and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene and a brother, Dan.
Family will receive friends at Anderson Diehm Funeral Home on Wednesday, Aug. 6 at 3 p.m. until time of a funeral service at 7 p.m., with Deacon Tom Rivard officiating. A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, Aug. 7 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on County Road G-12 by The Pond.
